The UK’s largest temporary outdoor ice rink, Ice Cube, Leeds returns to the stylish civic setting of Millennium Square for a ninth sell out season. With over 1200m2 of real ice, an adjoining nursery rink for those budding skaters of the future and a fully heated rink-side café, visitors of all ages are welcome.

Another New website for Dads!


Launched in June 2008, DadTalk aims to creat a new online community of fathers; and be a source of support information and ideas. DadTalk is for all fathers, bu we will target in particular fathers from African and Caribbean communities and fathers of teenagers. It aims to reach more fathers through the innovative use of social media, to champio and promote fatherhood through the web. It features a forum for fathers to support each other and reflect on the nitty gritty issues of being a dad, videos and podcasts from experts and fathers in society, and signposting to all things 'dad' on the web.

A free six session course for Parents and Carers

What does the course cover?

  • Sharing feelings, experiences and learning from each other
  • Coping with distressing thoughts and feelings
  • Breathing exercises
  • Making action plans which work for you
  • Exercise and getting fitter
  • Relaxation
  • Healthy eating and nutrition
  • Improving family communication
  • Parenting approaches
  • Dealing with tiredness
  • Using problem solving skills in your daily life
  • Making informed choices
  • Working with health, social care and education Professionals

What does it involve?

  • attending one 2 ½ hour session every week for 6 weeks (first and last sessions are 3 hours long)
  • joining in group discussions and activities (as much or as little as you want)
  • meeting people, having fun, feeling and coping better!

The Leeds Childcare Sufficiency Report is available to download.

Section 6 of the Childcare Act 2006 headlines the duty for
Local Authorities to secure, as far as reasonably, practicable,
sufficient childcare to meet the needs of working parents
in their area.In securing sufficient childcare,
Local Authorities arecharged with the duty to assess
the sufficiency of childcare provision in their area.

This report outlines the priorities Leeds City Council plans
to implement in order to address identified gaps and to
meet the needs of parents.
